Carpooling

If every commuter rode to work with just one person - it would cut the traffic in half! This is the motivation behind ridesharing.

It takes only 2 people to carpool and use the HOV Lanes, which saves a lot of time and irritation.  Not to mention the money saved on car insurance premiums and gasoline!

ACTA is a partner in the Pittsburgh region's CommuteInfo rideshare matching program.  CommuteInfo offers a growing database of individuals interested in carpooling or vanpooling. For more information or to Sign up to receive your matches go to www.commuteinfo.org.

Vanpooling

A vanpool is a group of 9-15 people who commute to and from work together but do not necessarily work in the same location. One member of the group volunteers to be the van driver.

The vans used for vanpooling are specially customized for the riders' comfort and seat either 9 or 15 passengers.

Vanpool groups generally have a set number of pick-up stops where riders gather to get on the van.  The pick-up and drop-off locations are in conveniently located areas where the riders can meet to board the van and may even be within walking distance of your home.  Pick-up and drop-off information may be obtained before riders commit to joining the vanpool.
